Recommended Reading?

For Christmas this year, I received two amazing books.  The first is The Architect's Brother, the second is Creature.  I was exposed to the Creature book, courtesy of Mrs. French on Bliss blog.  The images in these two books, really inspire and motivate me to step outside of what I know as a photographer.  There isn't much as far as "reading"....more pictures which I like.  But the pictures themselves tell stories.  They'll blow your mind.

Magical Red Shoes

What is it about the magical red shoes, that inspires us to capture, collect, illustrate them?!  I don't quite know, maybe it's because they're a little on the sassy side?  Perhaps when we wear  red shoes, we feel almost invincible?  I'd love to know your thoughts on this, and please mention how many pairs of red shoes you own.  I own 3 pairs, but am always on the watch!

Renewable Resource...... Bamboo Prints

So in my small effort to protect and preserve the environment, I'm now offering select images on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Bamboo Paper (290 gsm).  This paper features a natural warm white surface... not quite ivory, but not a bright white.  It is archival grade and acid free.  The best feature though is that it is made from bamboo which is a renewable resource.  I really love the heavy feel and slight textural quality to this paper.  Images may be printed on this paper upon request.  Check out some of the new Bamboo Prints in my shop!

Do people buy art books?

So I thought it would be a neat idea to compile some of my favorite images from my shop into a book.  I printed the book through Blurb, and got my first copy.  I like it, but am not sure if it can sell for enough for me to make a profit?  Just wondering if you guys think this is a smart investment or not?  I can by more and sell them through Etsy for less than my retail cost on Blurb.  Any opinions?  You can preview the first several pages on Blurb here.

Artbar

Last night, the "Mini" show began at Artbar in Milwaukee's riverwest area.  It runs 11-07-08 through 1-07-09.  The concept is that they have several artists submit artwork that is 8x8 or less, and under $60.00.  It's a fun way to see a lot of art, and maybe do some holiday shopping!  I definitely had some favorites of the works there.   Artbar is such a charming little spot, where even in the details of the decor....you find art.  From their yardstick pub table tops, to their bungee cord stair rails, you're sure to be visually inspired.  If you're in the Milwaukee area, take a break and check it out!
